Chinese Professor's Angry Outburst About Hong Kong and Cantonese
This video was banned from YouTube as a hate speech. A Chinese professor labels Hong Kongese as dogs and traitors. An issue which needs further exploration. However, I wonder how many Chinese might tragically agree with him now it has been put on national television.
If China wants to break away from any hint of Unity and No-Independence for TW and HK, it should keep showing these videos.
Just because Hong Kongers believe in higher moral, ethical and social values than mainlanders due to their British influence (i.e. rule of law), doesn't mean they're not Chinese or are traitors to China, quite the contrary.
The Peking U Professor makes disgraceful, yet impassioned comments. Disgraceful as they have been viewed as ignorant, racist and prejudiced. An emotive and embarassing display.
However, the point the Professor is trying to make (and failing to make it has to be said) is that Hong Kongers are often racist. They are racist to Pinoys on TV (overtly and unashamedly), ironically making characateurs out of their servants, who often are in fact better educated than them; and they can hold racist views towards mainland Chinese, although their frustrations with some aspects of the mainland of China (e.g. lack of what we might call "common sense") may be wholely warranted, it is no excuse for generalized racism.
You cannot fight fire with fire. The Chinese people do know this actually, so why not show it instead of disharmonious outbursts like this?
